On the 27th of May 2021, the Yoruba Academy invited the Yoruba Wikimedians User Group to their event tagged Ododo Eye to commensurate the Children’s Day on 27th May 2021. We have been asked to present about the Yoruba Wikipedia.
It was a very important event for our community as many Yoruba language Scholars, Teachers, students, and Yoruba language enthusiasts were present. The Ministry of Education participated in the event. It gave us a platform, and opportunity to promote the Yoruba language Wikipedia among these people. It provided us a platform for us to recruit Yoruba language native speakers, scholars, teachers, and students for Yoruba Wikipedia.
We distributed some customized swags such as exercise books, pens, jotters, and T-shirts to participants as we believe that swags are important in outreach efforts and useful tools for promotion.
