In August 2022, the Yoruba Wikimedians User Group launched Yoruba Wikipedia Destubbation Challenge to destub 1000 articles in one year.
The challenge aim at improving existing Wikipedia articles to a reasonable length of content. This is to promote the quality of content on Yoruba Wikipedia and ensure that all the bot-created articles are improved with the primary aim to improve the readers’ experience. A list of stubs categories was suggested, and members of our community were directed to destub articles from the suggested list. The recent changes log was monitored by volunteers for articles destubed. A total of 18 users participated and 67 stub articles were destub, and prizes would be awarded to users who destub the most article.
The Yoruba Wikimedians User Group approved an NGN 50,000 for prizes in the form of a Shoprite Gift Card. The category of prizes awarded are listed below

- Most articles destubbed for Women
- Most articles destubbed for States in South West Nigeria
- Most articles destubbed for Sports
- Most articles destubbed for planets
